1. Have the young man strip and put on a pair of spandex shorts.
2. Restrain him so his hands don't get in the way.
3. With scissors, cut a small hole in the front of the shorts to allow access to his genitals.
4. Bend the coat hanger wire so that the end forms a loop about 2" wide. This is meant to go around the base of the penis and testicles. Bend the remaining part of the wire into a wide arc to follow the contours of the youth's body. This is meant to go between his legs and up behind the waistband.
5. Apply the Texas Catheter.
6. Wearing rubber gloves, apply the casting tape so that it forms a waistband around the young man's body and a pouch to hold his genitals. It is best to leave the penis pointed downwards; this assists in drainage. Two 4-yard rolls of casting tape should suffice. As you wrap the tape about the penis, make sure that the external catheter is not constricted. The free flow of urine must not be prevented.
7. After a few wraps around the waist, bend the top end of the crotch-wire down over the waistband and cut the end off about an inch. When you come to the end of a roll, tuck the end of the roll under the previous layer. When all necessary rolls have been applied, apply warm water to the casting tape to start the curing process. The casting tape will get warm as it cures, but excessively.
8. When the tape has hardened, cut an appropriate opening in the crotch of the shorts to allow for elimination.

The emergency chastity splint should last for at least a week. Properly fitted, it is comfortable and hygienic.
