Dormitory Life

Residents live in dormitories which are divided into rooms for twenty residents. Capos, responsible for reporting rules infractions of other students, are privileged with private quarters housing eight residents each. Lights out is at 8:00 PM for the younger residents and 9:00 PM for the high-school residents.

Television privileges can be earned, and include a rich variety of programming such as PBS, The Learning Channel, The Discovery Channel, The History Channel, and Animal Planet.

Resident Council As a practical adjunct to the Government class, residents operate a Resident Government. The Resident Council adjudicates minor matters of resident conduct and is empowered to carry out or recommend disciplinary action. Unlike the resume-padding Student Councils of public schools whose main activity is to act as a social venue and bake-sale club, the Resident Council has real power in residents’ lives. Minor infractions of the rules are brought to the Council which determines appropriate punishment. Major infractions are heard before a review board composed of faculty members and a representative from the Resident Council.
